"Mummy dogs (aka pigs in a blanket). Peppercorns were used for the eyes and biscuit dough for the "wrapping". This was my first batch so I hadn't quite gotten down the proper wrapping technique yet. I adapted these from this recipe: www.365halloween.com/mummy-dogs (mine aren't veggie and I left off the "green goo")

Playing Catch-Up - Adventures in Canning Apples

I just finished most of my canning for the year, including Indian Chutney, which I love. There are barely any apples left on my trees!


I'm also done with the applesauce, weighing in at 28 qts. which fill the bottom shelf of our pantry quite nicely.

I'm making chutney right now from our Liberty apples, which are plentiful. I think there is one Spartan in the pot, too, but we won't tell.

Anyway, as the lemons, vinegar, sugar, salt, chili powder and cayenne are boiling lightly in the pot, I am doing a little looking around for what others have done to make apple chutney. While I haven't tried this recipe, it looks interesting. What intrigues me is the addition of watermelon pickle.
