"The problem with eating at dining halls is that you feel hungry again not an hour after a large meal."

UCLA food = #2 in the nation

Okay, now that looks good. Wow~

I love this - read the packages.

Dorm Food - Breakfast

So, my daughter is off to college. And she is realising even more just how good home cooking is. I've gotten texts and calls about dining hall offerings, and queries from the grocery store: "what do I get for breakfast?"  So far, she's not enchanted, but given time. . . ?

So, what are your thoughts on dorm food?  Any ideas, suggestions for a new college student?  Full meal plan, or the bare minimum with plenty of trips to the grocery?

This is another food I need to try. I totally missed out on the Suquamish Chief Seattle Days this year. Next year!

How do you like your frybread?

I've heard they sell it in the midwest at fairs and call it elephant ears.

A variety of toppings can be added to frybread.

Elephant Ear 2

Because I couldn't eat everything in one day while at Bumbershoot, I did have a bite of a friend's Elephant Ear.

This photographer says:

"Not too sweet or too buttery."

In looking up images of another festival favorite food, I found this. While it is not the Elephant Ear I was looking for, I had to share this.

Photographer's note:

""CA TAI TUONG" or the "elephant ear" fish is one of the delicacies in Vietnam cuisines.
The picture showed the real fish but already well-cooked. It is normally deep-fried with its scales intact and eat along with the Vietnamese's sauce.
